To Daphné Raymond, Mayor, and Anick Fredette:
I am writing to offer some ideas to improve communication with the town of Cookshire-Eaton and its citizens. There are some who are unwilling or unable to access municipal services via the Internet.
According to the Bulletin 2025 included with the tax bill, the following services are available only through the Internet:
- Large garbage pick-up
- Construction permits
- Election eligibility info
- Fire permits
- Septic schedule.
I am unable to access these services, which I am obliged to pay.
I offer the following suggestions to help breach the digital wall:
- Each service should have telephone and extension numbers.
- When possible, the person responsible should answer the phone.
- The voice message should encourage the caller to leave a call-back number.
- The call should be returned promptly.
- The pre-message regarding abusive language should be removed as it causes
more frustration.
